The star has handed over the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound award winnings to the MVT, which functions to preserve the United Kingdom's small music venues.
The star was presented with the prize on October 16 as his latest record People Watching was chosen as the outstanding release of the previous year.
He has opted to give the cash to the trust, in acknowledgment of the crucial part small stages had in his initial steps.
"As an artist would not have achieved what I am doing today if it hadn't been for all the shows I played around the region, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked the artist. "These locations are legendary, but they are struggling."
Beginning in 2023, over 150 of these locations have ceased operations – about 16 percent of the total UK scene.
Over the past year, well-known musicians such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by adding a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help smaller concert halls.
Sam Fender also participated, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support 38 grassroots venues across England, Scotland, and Wales.
These funds supported spaces that were confronting possible closure due to difficulties arising from flooding, blazes and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.
Other venues were granted monetary aid in improving facilities and gear that helped performers and concertgoers.
"The concept that money from performances in big venues backs the local stages, where it begins for artists like me, is just common sense," the star has stated.
He is among several artists to give his honor winnings to charitable organizations.
When they received the prize in the year 1996 for their album their work, lead singer Jarvis Cocker stated that the band would donate their cash to the organization War Child.
In 2002, musician Ms Dynamite shared her prize among several organizations, such as the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.
"And I donated a £1,000 to the center, to their classes, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they needed new equipment," Ms Dynamite told outlets.
Previously, they gave their funds to the community center that supported their act, as well as other local music groups.
Also winners that year M People donated their prize to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was found to have the disease.
"Receiving the award was sufficient," said vocalist Heather Small. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't require the extra, because we had the honor. So our winning touched another person's life."
Recently, the MVT announced it had rescued two grassroots venues in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.
The first in the city and the other in that location were bought under the public acquisition initiative, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "ownership units" in the venues.
